The Occupation Surrounds Salfit City Since Hours and Launches Widespread Arrests in the West Bank

SadaNews - The occupation forces carried out a wide raid on the city of Salfit, besieging it and transforming five homes into barracks and centers for field interrogation after evacuating their residents, with reports of assaults against some detainees.

Helicopter aircraft of the occupation flew at low altitudes and executed air drops while foot troops were deployed in the area.

The Governor of Salfit, Mustafa Taqatqa, announced that due to the current security situation in Salfit city and the presence of occupation forces, it has been decided to suspend work in all official departments in Salfit Governorate on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in order to ensure the safety of employees and citizens.

In Ramallah and Al-Bireh, the occupation forces arrested released prisoner Abdul Basit Ma’taan from the village of Burqa to the east, as well as citizen Najah Asi from the Al-Balou’ neighborhood in Al-Bireh, in addition to Sheikh Muhammad Salih from Jalazone camp in the north.

In Nablus, the town of Tal was raided, and Yusuf Ibrahim Zidan was arrested, as well as the young man Adham Taha Hamayel from the town of Beita south of the city.

The occupation army continues to carry out daily incursions in various areas of the West Bank, as part of a systematic escalation of violations against Palestinians.

During the week from February 6 to February 12, 2026, the occupation forces and settlers committed 1,197 violations against Palestinians and their properties, marking a significant increase in the rate of assaults.

These violations included private and public properties, recording 40 demolition and destruction operations of homes and properties, in addition to 20 cases of assault and confiscation of Palestinian properties.
