Al-Zandani: International Support for Yemen is an Investment in Regional Stability
SadaNews - The Yemeni Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaia Al-Zandani, affirmed that the international community's support for the legitimate Yemeni government "is not only a political stance but also an investment in strengthening regional stability, protecting international navigation security, and combating terrorism."
Al-Zandani's statements came during his meeting today, Sunday, in Riyadh, with the German ambassador to Yemen, Thomas Schneider, where both sides discussed political and economic developments, the priorities of the new government, and ways to enhance international support for efforts to achieve stability and advance the peace process.
He also expressed his government's aspiration to transition international support from an "crisis management" phase to addressing its root causes by supporting the completion of "the restoration of the state and ending the Houthi coup, and taking more decisive stances towards practices that undermine opportunities for peace in the country," according to the official news agency "Saba."
The Yemeni Prime Minister outlined the key features of the government's urgent program, which, according to him, focuses on stabilizing economic stability, activating state institutions in the "liberated" provinces, in addition to launching financial, administrative, and regulatory reforms.
For his part, the German ambassador renewed his country's congratulations to the Prime Minister on the formation of the new government, affirming Berlin's support for the government's efforts and programs aimed at achieving stability, reviving the economy, and easing the burdens on Yemenis.
The Presidential Leadership Council announced at the beginning of this month the formation of a new government headed by Shaia Al-Zandani, who also holds the portfolio of foreign affairs, comprising 35 ministers including 10 from the previous government, in addition to 3 women.
This came following recent transformations, after government forces, supported by the coalition led by Saudi Arabia, regained control of provinces in southern and eastern Yemen that had been held by the Southern Transitional Council (which announced its dissolution on January 9 of this year).
