The Central Election Commission Launches Awareness Campaign for the Nomination Phase of the 2026 Local Elections

SadaNews - The Central Election Commission announced the launch of an awareness and educational campaign for the nomination phase, as part of the comprehensive awareness campaign accompanying the 2026 local elections, scheduled to be held on the twenty-fifth of April.

The commission clarified in a statement issued today, Wednesday, that the campaign comes in the context of ongoing preparations for the next phase of the electoral process - the nomination phase - and aims to empower citizens, particularly potential candidates, to gain accurate insight into the nomination requirements and procedures within a clear and organized legal framework, considering the amendments made to the local elections law.

The commission indicated that the campaign details the conditions for nomination, the mechanism for submitting applications, the documents to be attached, as well as guidance related to nomination in local bodies classified as municipalities and village councils, and the procedural differences associated with each. It also provides clarifications regarding the specific timelines for receiving applications and the mechanisms for follow-up and inquiries.

The commission emphasized that the campaign targets the Palestinian public in general, with a special focus on those wishing to nominate themselves, ensuring their prior readiness and the completeness of their files before the official start of receiving applications on the twenty-third of February until the first of March.

In this context, the commission explained that it is implementing the campaign through its digital platforms, primarily its website, which allows citizens to access comprehensive answers to their inquiries and easily view application forms and related instructions.

The campaign is also being conducted in partnership with a number of local media outlets through broadcasting awareness-raising radio and visual materials, and publishing advertisements via websites, which contributes to expanding access to information and enhances the principles of transparency and knowledge availability for all.

The commission called on all those intending to participate in the elections to utilize the current period to review the nomination conditions, ensure the completion of the required documents, and adhere to the specified deadlines, emphasizing the importance of prior readiness to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the electoral process.
