Turkey speaks of "nuclear injustice" in the world
SadaNews: The Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, stated that "Turkey's possession of nuclear weapons is a high strategic issue that should be evaluated within a comprehensive and broad picture," pointing out that the world is witnessing what he termed "a lack of justice" in the nuclear weapons file.
The Turkish minister explained during a television interview on "CNN Türk" that "the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty only allows countries that possessed nuclear weapons when it was signed in 1970 to retain them, namely the United States, Russia, China, France, and Britain, which are the same five permanent members of the Security Council.
He added that "the treaty stipulated that these countries are committed to transferring peaceful nuclear technology and working towards the gradual elimination of nuclear weapons, yet neither of these commitments has been fulfilled, reflecting a structural imbalance in the international system."
