The Central Elections Commission Completes the Voter Registry Publication and Objection Phase

SadaNews - The Central Elections Commission completed today, Monday, the voter registry publication and objection phase in accordance with the announced plan, which was launched on the past Saturday across 420 local authorities in the West Bank, in addition to publishing the registry for the first time on its website.

The Commission stated that the publication and objection phase formed a crucial milestone in the process of updating the electoral registry, during which the preliminary voter registry was made available to citizens to check their data and ensure its accuracy, or to submit objections regarding names that do not meet the registration criteria, in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The Commission clarified that with the completion of this phase, it will begin reviewing the objections and requests submitted, and work on correcting the data according to the approved legal procedures, in preparation for approving the final voter registry as the backbone of the electoral process.

It indicated that during the period of publication and objection, it received (25) objections against others, (138) data correction requests, and (14) instances of names not listed, all of which were addressed within the applicable legal and administrative frameworks.

The Central Elections Commission noted that the publication and objection phase was conducted according to the highest standards of transparency, with the presence of accredited observers and journalists, affirming that these procedures contribute to enhancing the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring the accuracy of the electoral registry and its true representation of the voters' will.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the local elections according to the scheduled timeline and the provisions of the law, ensuring wide and fair participation from all segments of society.

It pointed out that it is currently working on launching the nomination phase on the 23rd of February, which will last until the 1st of March, during which the Commission will receive nomination requests from lists in the authorities classified as municipalities, and individual nomination requests in the authorities classified as village councils.

The Commission called on all those wishing to run for office to monitor its website and official platforms starting today, to review the procedures and requirements and adhere to the set deadlines as announced.
