Israeli Incursion in the Town of Ma’riya in the Western Countryside of Daraa, Syria
SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces penetrated the eastern outskirts of the town of Ma’riya in the western countryside of Daraa early this Sunday morning, before withdrawing later after conducting searches inside the town, with no injuries or arrests reported.
According to what was reported by the Syrian state news agency (SANA), quoting the mayor of Ma’riya and Abidin, Moafaq Mahmoud, an occupation force consisting of four military vehicles penetrated the town at two o'clock in the morning.
The occupation forces reached the first neighborhoods of Ma’riya from the eastern side.
Mahmoud explained that the force members conducted a search operation in one of the houses within the town before withdrawing in the same direction from which they entered, noting that the incursion resulted in a state of anxiety and tension among the residents.
The mayor stated that no injuries or arrests were recorded during the incursion process, which ended shortly after it began, without announcing the reasons behind it.
This incursion follows a similar incident in late January, when an Israeli occupation force entered the area of Sarriya Jumla (Valley Barracks) in the western countryside of Daraa and set up a temporary checkpoint on the road to Wadi Jumla, conducting search operations in the vicinity before withdrawing from the location.
Israel continues its attacks and violations of the ceasefire agreement signed in 1974 through repeated incursions into southern Syria, as well as raids and assaults on civilians, and the razing of agricultural lands in various areas.
In this context, Damascus repeatedly affirms in official statements its demand for the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from its territories, considering that all actions taken by Israel in southern Syria are "null and void" and have no legal effect according to international law.
Damascus also calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities, work to deter the practices of the occupation, and compel it to fully withdraw from southern Syria and stop the ongoing violations of Syrian sovereignty.
