Health in Gaza: Thousands of injured require urgent evacuation via Rafah crossing
SadaNews - The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that there are medical emergency cases necessitating immediate evacuation via Rafah crossing, stressing that the lives of these patients are at risk if they are not urgently transferred for treatment abroad.
The ministry clarified that about 6,000 injured individuals in the sector need urgent evacuation, noting that the current evacuation mechanism is extremely slow and may take years to alleviate the suffering of patients and the injured. It emphasized the necessity of evacuating at least 500 patients daily to ensure they receive the necessary medical care and save their lives.
For his part, the director of the government media office in Gaza confirmed that the authorities are closely monitoring what is happening at Rafah crossing, pointing out that there is information indicating that more than 80,000 Palestinians wish to return to Gaza via the crossing. He added that several parties will oversee the traffic movement and organize crossings at the crossing to ensure that the process proceeds in an orderly manner.
The government official indicated that there are 22,000 injured and sick individuals in urgent need of leaving the sector to receive treatment abroad, emphasizing that the health situation in Gaza requires urgent action from the international community to facilitate evacuation operations and provide the necessary medical support.
