Al-Shalla to SadaNews: The Conditions of Prisoners in the Occupation's Prisons Have Become Similar to Graves
SadaNews - The Secretary of the Palestinian Bar Association, lawyer Amjad Al-Shalla, stated to SadaNews that the conditions of prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons have become akin to graves, and that the prisoners today are suffering unprecedented severe hardships, fully aware that Israeli history in dealing with prisoners and detainees has never been in accordance with international or humanitarian laws or standards. However, the living conditions have worsened significantly for the prisoners and detainees, with hundreds of them in solitary confinement, most prisoners being deprived of contact and communication, and they are almost completely isolated from the outside world.
The lawyer Al-Shalla informed SadaNews that the conditions of Gaza prisoners are the most difficult and complex; they are essentially living individuals subjected to capital treatment today by their jailers without trials and without the slightest guarantees.
The Bar Association called on the international community and all international, human rights, and humanitarian organizations to play their roles and bear their responsibilities towards the conditions and circumstances of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, and that there should be greater pressure from relevant international organizations to work on and pressure the Israeli government to change its policies towards Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
