Mustafa Chairs a Meeting to Develop the Palestinian Crossings System and Its Services and Governance

SadaNews - Today, Saturday, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa chaired a meeting in his office in Ramallah to follow up on developments regarding the Palestinian crossings, whether at the Al-Karama crossing in the West Bank or the Rafah crossing in the Gaza Strip, and the necessary plans and mechanisms to develop and enhance these crossings and improve their infrastructure.

The meeting focused on developing the governance and management system for the Palestinian crossings to ensure the roles, responsibilities, and tasks of various parties are clearly defined, contributing to strengthening this important national resource and its contribution to enhancing the national economy, boosting trade activity, and travel services.

Mustafa reaffirmed during the meeting that the issue of crossings is a priority at the sovereign, political, security, economic, and social levels, as it directly affects citizens. He stressed the need to intensify communications and efforts with various parties to extend their operating hours, both in terms of the movement of individuals and goods, and to develop travel and goods transport mechanisms.

The meeting discussed ways to improve the infrastructure and various facilities at the Al-Karama crossing, especially the incoming halls and the cargo and transport area, automating procedures and services provided at the crossing, enhancing the capabilities of the working teams, and combating smuggling. This is expected to positively reflect on the services provided to citizens and facilitate travel procedures, while increasing readiness to address congestion and travel crises, especially during Umrah and Hajj seasons and holidays.

Attending the meeting were Minister of Interior Major General Ziad Hab al-Rih, Minister of Finance and Planning Estefan Salama, Minister of Transport and Communications Mohammed Ahmad, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Abdul Razak Natsha, Head of the Civil Affairs Commission Minister Ayman Qandeel, Commander of the Customs Control Authority Major General Iyad Barakat, Head of the General Authority for Crossings and Borders Amin Qandeel, and Director of the Government Communications Center Mohammed Abu Rab.
