A Dead Man and Injured Due to the SDF Shelling in Hasakah Countryside and Displacement due to Clashes

SadaNews - A person was killed and others injured due to the shelling by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the Hasakah countryside, and a movement of displacement began in several areas due to the clashes between the Syrian army and the SDF.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported the death of one person and injuries to others as a result of the SDF's shelling of the village of Safa in the northern eastern Hasakah province of Syria.

Al-Jazeera obtained images during the village's shelling by SDF forces, showing residents fleeing to agricultural lands and other areas amid attempts to storm the village.

For its part, the SDF confirmed heavy clashes with the Syrian army southeast of Ain al-Arab (Kobani), stating that the army continues to commit violations against populated areas in Hasakah and Ain al-Arab (Kobani) in the northern Aleppo province of Syria.

The SDF called on the guarantor parties of the ceasefire agreement to fully assume their responsibilities in putting an end to these violations.

The SDF noted that four of its fighters were injured in attacks by the Syrian army.

Displacement

In a related context, Al-Jazeera's correspondent reported that the humanitarian crossing of Nur Ali, in Ain al-Arab (Kobani) in the Aleppo countryside, which the Ministry of Defense designated for the exit of civilians from areas controlled by the SDF, witnessed the movement of some families leaving the city.

Syrian authorities had prepared the crossing with several ambulances and set up a temporary shelter near the city of Serin.

The Al-Jazeera correspondent stated that there has been a movement of displacement starting in several areas of the Hasakah countryside due to the clashes between the army and the SDF, despite the announcement of a ceasefire.

Settlement

The Syrian Ministry of Interior opened two centers in the Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor provinces to receive requests for the settlement of the conditions of SDF members, in a step it said aims to enhance stability in the region. The settlement procedures include the surrender of weapons and filling out security forms.

Last Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Defense announced a ceasefire in all operational sectors of the army for a period of 4 days, in accordance with the understandings declared by the state with the SDF, which was later extended for 15 days starting from Saturday evening.

On January 18 of this year, the government and the SDF signed an agreement that stipulates a ceasefire and the integration of organization members and their institutions within the Syrian state.

This agreement came after a military operation launched by the Syrian army, during which it regained wide areas in the east and northeast of the country, following repeated violations by the SDF of its agreements signed with the government 10 months ago.
