Radio of the Occupation Army: Understanding between Tel Aviv and Washington to Open Rafah Crossing in Both Directions

SadaNews - The radio of the occupation army reported that Tel Aviv and Washington reached an understanding last week to open the Rafah crossing in both directions.

The Israeli security and political cabinet is holding a special meeting today to discuss the opening of the crossing, amid internal disagreements over who will manage it.

Last Thursday, the head of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, Ahmed Shaath, stated that "the Rafah crossing will be opened in both directions next week, and we have much work ahead of us."

The Haaretz newspaper reported that informed sources indicated that the Israeli government proposed deploying "private security companies" to undertake the security and administrative tasks at the Rafah crossing, as an alternative to the return of forces affiliated with the Palestinian Authority.

It is noteworthy that the Rafah crossing has been closed for a long time and is considered the only outlet for the people of the Gaza Strip to travel abroad for purposes such as treatment, education, or communication with the outside world, making its closure one of the most prominent aspects of the siege imposed on the Strip.
