Lazarini: The West Bank is Experiencing the Worst Humanitarian Crisis Since 1967
SadaNews - Philip Lazarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), warned that the occupied West Bank is experiencing the worst humanitarian crisis since 1967, due to the Israeli aggression on its camps and the forced displacement of tens of thousands.
Lazarini stated in a post on his account on the "X" platform: "A year after the start of the Israeli military operation called 'The Iron Wall', 33,000 people are still forcibly displaced from the Palestinian refugee camps in northern the West Bank."
He added: "At the same time, Israeli forces continue to demolish large areas of the camps, reducing the chances of recovery for these communities."
He pointed out that "UNRWA teams are working on the ground to assist newly displaced Palestinian refugees who are being pushed into further poverty, in the absence of any viable alternatives for healthcare, education, and social services."
He emphasized that "UNRWA continues its work, but to sustain this work, we need ongoing political and financial support from member states."
