Al-Elyami Reaffirms the Need to Restrict Arms to the Yemeni State
SadaNews - Yemeni Presidential Council Chairman Rashad Al-Elyami reaffirmed the "necessity for the state to monopolize weapons and to prevent any formations outside of its institutions," according to Saba News Agency.
This came during a meeting he held yesterday, Monday, with the commander of the joint forces of the Yemeni legitimacy support coalition, Lieutenant General Fahd bin Hamad Al-Sulami, where they discussed "joint military coordination and enhancing the capabilities of the Yemeni armed forces to confront threats, combat terrorism, smuggling, and organized crime."
In a related context, Yemeni Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Sagheer bin Aziz stressed the "necessity to raise the level of combat readiness, and to enhance security and military vigilance, in implementation of the directives of President Rashad Al-Elyami, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces."
This comes "as part of comprehensive combat readiness in accordance with the declared emergency plan, ensuring full readiness to confront various challenges and threats."
According to Saba News Agency, the meeting of the General Staff held in the city of Marib - northeast Yemen - reiterated the "full support of the armed forces for the decisions of President Al-Elyami."
The meeting emphasized the importance of adhering to the training and operational plan for 2026, which contributes to enhancing the efficiency of the armed forces and raising their combat capabilities.
It discussed the level of combat readiness, deployment plans in the theater of operations, and the importance of operational integration and unifying efforts to serve the national battle and enhance the strength and cohesion of the military institution.
