Occupation Buries the Dead in a Settlement Cemetery Established on the Lands of Zawiya West of Salfit
SadaNews: The Israeli occupation forces have begun burying the dead in a settlement cemetery established on the lands of Zawiya town, west of Salfit city.
The acting mayor of Zawiya, Amir Shaqir, stated that the occupation and settlers have seized approximately 180 dunams of the town's lands, where the cemetery was prepared, and one deceased person was buried, in the western area of the town located behind the apartheid wall.
He explained that the town of Zawiya is subjected to continuous assaults by the occupation and settlers, including the bulldozing of agricultural land and uprooting of olive trees, in addition to delivering notices for the seizure of thousands of dunams, and demolishing citizens' homes, as part of colonial plans aimed at changing the geographical and demographic character of Salfit Governorate.
Shaqir pointed out that the establishment of colonial cemeteries is a new means of imposing facts on the ground, restricting landowners from accessing their lands, which increases the suffering of citizens and threatens their sources of livelihood.
