Release of 'SDF' Members in Aleppo
SadaNews - The Syrian Ministry of Interior released a group of members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) who surrendered themselves and their weapons in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo, following the completion of legal and security procedures against them.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement published on its official channel on the Telegram app that the release occurred on Wednesday evening after the relevant authorities completed the verification of personal data and records of those detained through specialized legal and field committees, confirming that the decision included those who were proven not to be involved in criminal acts or participation in crimes against Syrian civilians.
It added that this step comes as part of the state's approach aimed at opening the door for the return of those it referred to as "those who lost their way," provided that their hands are not stained with the blood of Syrians, in accordance with applicable laws and established procedures.
According to footage reported by Al Jazeera Mubasher from Aleppo, the release came in the context of the military operation that took place in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, where internal security forces managed to secure defections from a large number of SDF members, following calls from the Operations Authority of the Syrian Arab Army for the organization's members to surrender, with a commitment to secure them and to take legal action against them.
The video footage shows the released individuals exiting from detention sites, reflecting, according to the Ministry of Interior, the path being taken to address this issue, based on individual settlements, legal scrutiny, and providing an opportunity for a return to civilian life for those who have not been proven to be involved in acts of violence.
