The President Issues a Decision to Change the Name of the Political and National Guidance Authority

SadaNews Economy - President Mahmoud Abbas issued a presidential decree for the year 2026, to change the name of the Political and National Guidance Authority to the National and Moral Guidance Authority.

This decision comes based on the provisions of the Palestinian Liberation Organization's Basic Law, the amended Basic Law of 2003 and its amendments, and the Palestinian Security Forces Service Law No. (2005) and its amendments, and based on the powers granted to His Excellency, aiming to achieve the public interest.

The decision confirmed in its first article the adoption of the new name for the authority, while the second article stated the annulment of everything that contradicts the provisions of this decision, assigning the relevant authorities to implement its provisions as pertains to them. The third article stipulated that the decision shall be effective as of the date of its issuance and publication in the official gazette.

The Political Guidance Authority stated, "This amendment reflects the Palestinian leadership's commitment to developing national frameworks and enhancing the moral and national aspect of the authority's work, in line with the current stage's requirements, and contributes to instilling national belonging values and enhancing awareness and responsibility among members of the security and civil institutions and the Palestinian community in general."

The decision was issued on January 13, 2026, and bears the signature of President Mahmoud Abbas.
