Russian Attacks Cause Power Outages in Ukraine
SadaNews - The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy stated that attacks launched by Russian forces late yesterday, Wednesday, led to almost complete power outages in two regions of southeastern the country.
The ministry said in a statement on Telegram, "As a result of the attack, the Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions are almost completely without electricity… Vital facilities are operating on backup power sources."
Local reports mentioned that hospitals and essential facilities in the two regions are operating on backup power sources, while emergency teams continue to work to restore the electricity, as well as water and heating services which have also been disrupted.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that imminent snowfall and temperatures dropping to 20 degrees Celsius below zero during the night are likely to double the disruptions in the electricity and heating networks.
She wrote on Telegram that "Ukraine's energy systems are under attack from the enemy every day, and energy sector employees work in extremely difficult conditions to provide individuals with electricity and heating."
She mentioned, "Adverse weather conditions place additional pressure on vital infrastructure."
