Netanyahu: A Joint Position with Trump Against Iran's Nuclear and Ballistic Program
SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that his government adopts a joint position with the U.S. administration to prevent Iran from restoring its nuclear program or developing its missile capabilities, emphasizing that this position is "firm and steadfast".
Netanyahu's remarks came during a special session in the Knesset, convened at the request of the opposition following the gathering of signatures from 40 Knesset members, dedicated to discussing his recent visit to the United States and his meeting with the American president.
Netanyahu clarified that he discussed a range of regional and security issues with President Donald Trump, primarily the war in Gaza, the prisoner issue, along with topics concerning Iran, Lebanon, Syria, and other regional matters.
In this context, Netanyahu stated: "Trump emphasized our shared commitment to disarm Hamas and dismantle its military capabilities, and the necessity of returning the last hostage from Gaza," referring to the body of the last Israeli captive held in the strip.
Regarding Iran, Netanyahu stressed that both sides expressed a firm stance towards Tehran, saying: "Trump and I conveyed a strict position: We will not allow Iran to restore its ballistic missile industry, and certainly we will not allow it to renew its nuclear program".
He added: "This is a joint position, and it remains in place".
These statements come amid growing debate over the extent of Israeli-U.S. coordination on regional files, particularly concerning the Iranian nuclear program and the repercussions of the war in Gaza.
