Decline in Global Gold and Oil Prices
SadaNews Economy - Gold prices closed lower at the end of the first trading day of the new year.
The U.S. gold futures contracts declined by (0.3%) at settlement to reach (4329.6) dollars per ounce, while gold in spot transactions increased by (0.28%) to reach (4326.23) dollars per ounce.
For other precious metals, silver in spot transactions rose by (2.1%) to reach (72.75) dollars, platinum increased by (0.2%) reaching (2057.74) dollars, and palladium rose by (2.4%) to reach (1642.90) dollars.
Additionally, oil prices fell at the close on the first trading day of 2026.
Brent crude futures declined by ten cents to (60.75) dollars per barrel at settlement, and West Texas Intermediate crude also decreased by ten cents to (57.32) dollars per barrel at settlement.
