Trump: Capture of Maduro and Airlift Out of Venezuela
SadaNews - President Donald Trump announced today, Saturday, that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife have been captured and airlifted out of the country.
Trump indicated that Washington carried out a successful large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader.
He wrote on his social media platform "Truth Social": "The United States successfully executed a wide-ranging strike against Venezuela and its president, Nicolas Maduro, who was captured along with his wife and airlifted out of the country."
He added: "This operation was conducted in coordination with U.S. law enforcement agencies. Details will be released later. A press conference will be held today at 11 AM at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your interest in this matter!".
CBS News reported that Delta forces were the ones who arrested Maduro.
This comes after Venezuela today condemned the "very serious military aggression" after explosions shook the capital, Caracas, while President Nicolas Maduro declared a state of emergency.
A government statement said, "Venezuela rejects and condemns (...) the very dangerous military aggression launched by (...) the United States against the territory of Venezuela and its people, in the civilian and military areas of Caracas and the Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira states surrounding Caracas."
It added, "Such an attack threatens international peace and stability (...) and puts the lives of millions at serious risk.".
Today, strong explosions were heard in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, and sounds resembling the roar of aircraft were noted starting around 2:00 PM local time (6:00 PM UTC), according to the "French Press Agency."
