During a Security Discussion.. Zamir Announces His Army's Readiness for a New Operation in Gaza and Netanyahu's Ambiguous Position

SadaNews Translation - The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed on Friday the behind-the-scenes details of the security discussion held by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a day before his trip to the United States to meet with President Donald Trump.

According to the Hebrew newspaper, Chief of Staff of the Israeli army Eyal Zamir questioned the capability of the international stabilization force to disarm Hamas.

Zamir indicated during the discussion the Israeli army's preparations and operational capabilities, under which he would take on the task of disarming Hamas himself through another Israeli military operation in the sector, as SadaNews translated.

During the discussion, Zamir addressed Netanyahu, asking him to direct the Israeli army regarding preparations in case a military operation to disarm Hamas is implemented, and to identify who would control the sector if such an operation were carried out.

According to Zamir, who opposes forming a military rule in the Gaza Strip and presented this option during the discussion as one of the available choices in the absence of an alternative, Israel may end up in the same situation where Hamas would return and strengthen, as is the case now.

For his part, Netanyahu did not respond to a question regarding who would control the Gaza Strip if the international stabilization forces failed, forcing the Israeli army to resort to military action again.

The newspaper states, as SadaNews translated, that Netanyahu shares his skepticism about the success of the international stabilization force in the disarmament mission, but the United States continues to strive to exhaust this step.
