Sheikh Discusses Developments of the Palestinian Cause with the Saudi Foreign Minister

SadaNews - The Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Sheikh, discussed with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the latest political developments regarding the Palestinian cause, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

During the meeting held today, Wednesday, in the presence of the President's Diplomatic Adviser Majdi Khaldi, and the Advisers to the Foreign Minister, Musab bin Muhammad Al-Farhan, Manal Radwan, and Ayah Moheisen, Sheikh expressed the gratitude and appreciation of the State of Palestine and its people for the steadfast and supportive positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the Palestinian cause and the just rights of the Palestinian people.

Sheikh conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas's greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and to the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and expressed appreciation for the sincere brotherly efforts made by the Saudi leadership at both the regional and international levels to establish a ceasefire and end the suffering of the Palestinian people, and support their legitimate rights to freedom and independence, emphasizing the importance of the Kingdom's efforts to enhance security and stability in the region and the world.

The Vice President confirmed the Palestinian position on the importance of immediately starting the implementation of the second phase, which would lead to the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the initiation of reconstruction processes, and the assumption by the State of Palestine of its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, implementing the principle of one state, one law, and one legitimate weapon, stressing the necessity of ending the humanitarian suffering of our people in the sector, and that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine.

Sheikh called for the necessity of putting pressure on the occupation authorities to stop their continuous assaults in the West Bank, which manifest in the ongoing colonial expansion and attempts to annex territories, in addition to continued incursions into Palestinian cities, towns, and camps, killing and arresting citizens, destroying their properties and infrastructure, and continuing to withhold Palestinian funds, which negatively impacts the State of Palestine's ability to fulfill its obligations towards its people.

Both sides emphasized the importance of creating an appropriate atmosphere to launch a serious and credible political process, based on international legitimacy and international law, leading to an end to the Israeli occupation, and the achievement of a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, stressing the necessity of coordination within the Arab and Islamic framework, as well as with the European Union and concerned countries.

Sheikh praised the pioneering role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this regard, as represented by the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, asserting that comprehensive security, stability, and peace in the region require the existence of the Palestinian state and its recognition in accordance with international legitimacy.
