Trump Suspends Green Card Lottery Program for Immigrants
SadaNews - Last night, U.S. President Donald Trump suspended the Green Card lottery program that allowed the suspect in the shootings at Brown University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to enter the United States.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated in a post on social media platform X that, based on Trump's directives, she is ordering U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to temporarily halt the program. The diversity visa program provides up to 50,000 Green Cards each year through a lottery for individuals from underrepresented countries in the United States, many of which are in Africa.
Noem continued in her post on X: "This heinous individual should never have been allowed to enter our country."
