Abu Rudina: All Settlements Are Illegal in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza Strip
SadaNews - The official spokesperson for the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudina, responded to the statements made by the U.S. ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who said that "there is no need for any reaction to Israel's permission to establish 19 settlements. This is neither "annexation" nor "a declaration of sovereignty". He stated that all settlements are illegal and violate international legitimacy and international law.
Abu Rudina added that the U.S. ambassador's supportive statements for the settlements are rejected and condemned, and they contradict the international consensus that voted in Resolution 2334 against settlements and considered them all illegal, emphasizing that no one is authorized to grant legitimacy to the occupation and its policies.
Abu Rudina continued, calling on the U.S. administration to adhere to international law and decisions of international legitimacy if it is interested in stopping violence and escalation and achieving a fair and lasting peace in the Middle East, reaffirming that recognition of legitimate Palestinian rights is the only way to achieve peace and security for all.
