Cambodia Denies Its Readiness to Deploy Rocket Platforms in Its Conflict with Thailand
SadaNews - The Cambodian National Defense Ministry rejected a Thai media report on Friday, claiming that Cambodia is preparing to deploy multiple rocket launchers of the type (PHL-03) in the ongoing border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.
In its statement, the ministry denied the article published by the Thai newspaper "Thairath," describing it as baseless and fabricated, asserting that these allegations are completely false and aimed at tarnishing Cambodia's image, according to the Cambodian newspaper "Khmer Times" today Friday.
Cambodia demanded that Thailand stop deliberately disseminating misleading information to distract public opinion from its violations of international law. The ministry added that this misleading information seems aimed at justifying the increasing use of destructive weapons by the Thai side against Cambodia.
Previously, Cambodia confirmed that Thailand launched more airstrikes yesterday, Thursday, amid escalating fighting along the border between the two countries, with both nations accusing each other of violating sovereignty along the disputed border area.
These clashes, resulting from long-standing territorial disputes, followed a skirmish last Sunday that resulted in the injury of two Thai soldiers and violated a ceasefire mediated by U.S. President Donald Trump, which ended five days of fighting in July.
Reports indicate that 24 people have been killed in the fighting this week, while hundreds of thousands have been displaced on both sides of the border.
