Heigseth and his Japanese counterpart: China's actions do not serve regional peace
SadaNews - Tokyo announced today (Friday) that Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and his American counterpart Pete Heigseth agreed during a phone call to discuss security in the region that China's recent actions "do not help in achieving regional peace."
The Japanese Ministry of Defense stated in a statement that the two ministers "exchanged candid views on the deteriorating security situation in the Indo-Pacific region, including the radar incident that targeted the Self-Defense Forces' aircraft by Chinese military fighters on December 6."
The statement added that the ministers expressed their "serious concern about any actions that could escalate regional tensions, as China's actions do not assist in achieving regional peace and stability," in light of the dispute between Japan and China following comments made by Prime Minister Sanae Taketachi last month regarding Taiwan.
