Mishaal: Gaza Has Given Its All and We Have a Vision for Resistance Weapons

SadaNews - Khaled Mishaal, head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) abroad, confirmed that the movement has its own approach regarding weapons and seeks to convince the U.S. administration of it. He stated that Gaza has given what it could and it is time for it to rise and recover.

Mishaal touched upon several points and details, particularly Hamas's position and the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip and the items of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan regarding the enclave.

In the context of discussing the resistance's stance on Israeli demands to disarm, he revealed that Hamas presents various parties with a formula stating that "the resistance wants to create a depiction with guarantees that there will not be a return to war between Gaza and the Israeli occupation," meaning "how this weapon can be hidden and safeguarded so it is not used or displayed." He also mentioned that the resistance proposed the idea of a long-term truce as a real guarantee.

The Hamas leader affirmed that the real danger comes from the Zionist entity, "not from Gaza, which they demand to disarm," describing disarming the Palestinians as akin to "removing the soul."

Mishaal expressed his belief in the ability of Hamas to convince the U.S. administration of its approach regarding weapons, considering the pragmatic American mindset - according to him - thus imposing it on the Israeli side. He revealed that intermediaries are discussing this approach with the Americans.

On another note, Mishaal confirmed that Gaza's upcoming strategy is to focus on itself, in an attempt to recover and rejuvenate, emphasizing that it has "given everything it could and more, and no one is asking it to fire a shot or to fulfill its duty to resist." He stated that Hamas has informed intermediaries of its need for assistance to rise and recover once again.

Regarding international force, Mishaal said that the resistance has no objection to the presence of an international stabilization force at the borders, like UNIFIL, "to separate between Gaza and the Israeli occupation," indicating that the guarantors, especially the intermediaries (Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey), along with the eight Arab and Islamic countries can guarantee Gaza, Hamas, and the resistance, so that "no military escalation comes from within Gaza against Israel."

In the same context, Mishaal praised the position of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty, who stated on the "Special Meeting" program on Al Jazeera that "the role of the international force is to maintain peace, not to enforce it."

Administration of Gaza

Regarding Hamas's view on the administration of Gaza, he confirmed that there was consensus on handing over Gaza to a technocratic government and uniting the strip and the West Bank, but the matter faced obstacles due to war and the Israeli veto. He revealed that two or three weeks ago, an in-depth dialogue occurred between the factions and Egypt, during which 40 names were proposed, 8 of which represented the diversity of Gazan society, but "this step is being obstructed by Israel."

The Hamas leader also warned that the Peace Council mentioned in the U.S. President's plan regarding Gaza is fraught with dangers, affirming that Hamas rejects the executive council under which it falls, as it constitutes "a form of guardianship" over the Palestinians. He emphasized by saying, "We want Palestinians to govern themselves and decide who governs them."

On another front, he pointed out that the Palestinian cause has regained its spirit on the regional stage, moving from the drawers to impose itself on everyone. In contrast, Israel has become an outcast in the world for committing genocide.

Regarding the idea of normalization and what was proposed regarding the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, Mishaal believes that this idea has become more distant after October 7, 2023, "except for those who want to ignore what resulted from the fierce Israeli war on Gaza over the past two years."

Concerning Israeli practices in the West Bank, Mishaal warned that "Israel is currently undertaking the actual annexation of the West Bank and wants to finalize its political identity and integrate it into Israeli sovereignty through practical steps." He stated that the Palestinian Authority bears significant responsibility and knows that "its political project has failed, its nails are being trimmed, its authority is being reduced, and it is viewed as a security tool."

On the positioning of Hamas in light of the new reality in the region, the Hamas official explained that "Iranian support has been and continues to be important, essential, and strong, and we are grateful for it." He said that the movement has received support from all Arab countries throughout its journey, albeit to varying degrees, and has opened up to everyone, but he affirmed that Hamas "has never been centered in any spot away from the Arab and Islamic nation."

He added that the image has been slightly distorted due to the presence of "Arab and Islamic parties that have closed the doors on Hamas," and stated that the movement is interested in enhancing its Arab and Islamic presence.
