Palestinian Presidency Condemns Occupation's Decision to Build 764 New Settlement Units in the West Bank

SadaNews - The Palestinian presidency condemned today, Wednesday, the announcement by the Israeli occupation authorities to build 764 new settlement units in the West Bank, considering it an Israeli attempt to undermine all international efforts aimed at stopping violence and escalation and achieving stability in the region.

The official spokesman for the presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, stated that the Israeli decision is rejected and contravenes international legitimacy and international law, especially United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirmed that all settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, are illegal, stressing that these settlement decisions will not grant legitimacy or security to anyone.

Abu Rudeineh added: We hold the occupation government responsible for the serious repercussions of this destructive policy aimed at igniting the region, dragging it into a cycle of violence and wars, and undermining any effort to extricate the region from the cycle of violence.

The official spokesman continued: We call on U.S. President Donald Trump's administration to pressure the occupation authorities to retract their settlement policies, attempts at annexation and expansion, and theft of Palestinian land, and to compel them to comply with the decisions of international legitimacy and international law, in order to ensure the success of President Trump's efforts to stop the war and achieve stability in the region.
