Gaza Faces a Third Winter Without Shelter or Heating... Civil Defense Warns of Potential Victims
SadaNews - In their third winter, the people of the Gaza Strip are facing a renewed humanitarian tragedy with no heating and no safe shelter. As the first raindrops fall, the dilapidated tents of displaced persons are inundated, revealing the fragility of their living conditions and exacerbating their daily suffering amidst the bitter cold and lack of basic life necessities.
The spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza, Major Mahmoud Bseil, warned of the consequences of the expected low-pressure system, confirming that the camps, shelters, and dilapidated buildings will face severe damage that could lead to collapses and casualties.
He explained that camps located in low-lying areas will be completely submerged and will not be able to accommodate the heavy amounts of rainfall, indicating that the entire sector is threatened by flooding due to the intensity of the rain, amidst a complete collapse affecting various aspects of life.
Bseil added that the scene will be highly difficult in a sector ravaged by war, where thousands have been killed due to the Israeli genocide, and it continues to suffer from collapse on all fronts. He emphasized that "the insane war has partially stopped but returns in another form through flooding, cold, torrential rains, and collapses," pointing to the scale of the humanitarian disaster that renews with every winter season.
In light of these harsh conditions, the Civil Defense called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action and pressure for the entry of caravans into the sector, placing them in a manner that respects human dignity, along with establishing infrastructure that ensures the minimum of safe living conditions and alleviates the suffering of thousands of displaced persons.
