Japan Warns of Tsunami After 7.6 Magnitude Earthquake
SadaNews - Japan issued a warning today, Monday, of high tidal waves (tsunami) following a strong earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The French news agency reported that Japan's northern coasts have already recorded tsunami waves reaching 40 centimeters in height following the earthquake.
The Japan Meteorological Agency stated that the earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 struck off the coasts of Aomori and Hokkaido at a depth of about 53 kilometers beneath the Earth's surface.
The agency issued a warning in the region about the possibility of tsunami waves reaching heights of up to 3 meters.
