Anonymous Call Causes Panic in the Family of Leader Marwan Barghouti
SadaNews - The family of Palestinian leader and prisoner Marwan Barghouti received a phone call this Friday morning from an Israeli number, in which the caller claimed to be a recently freed prisoner who was released at dawn from the occupation prisons, asserting that Abu al-Qassam's condition is very serious and critical.
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs explained that, after following up and communicating, it was revealed that the information conveyed to the family spoke about a brutal assault that "Abu al-Qassam" had suffered at the hands of prison guards, with the caller alleging that "part of his ear was cut off, and his ribs, fingers, and teeth were broken during repeated rounds of torture and abuse."
The commission indicated that this call caused a state of panic for Abu al-Qassam's family and the entire Palestinian people, and an attempt was made to call the same number without success.
The commission confirmed that there have been previous recorded cases involving threats, intimidation, and harassment of prisoners' families, emphasizing its continued joint and concerted efforts with Palestinian leadership, friends, and international supporters to investigate the truth regarding Abu al-Qassam's condition, holding the occupation authorities fully responsible for what the prisoners are subjected to inside the prisons.
