Prince Promotes "Five Stones" as Occupation Continues Its Aggression in Northern West Bank
SadaNews - The Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, claimed during a field tour in northern West Bank that the occupation army "is continuously working to thwart terrorism and its infrastructures," adding that it will enhance "security and defense of the settlements in the West Bank."
This statement came according to a communiqué issued by the Israeli occupation army this evening, amidst its ongoing escalation in northern occupied West Bank as part of the operation it launched a few days ago under the name "Five Stones."
Zamir stressed that the army "will not allow any threat to grow and will seek to preemptively thwart it through proactive offensive operations," in parallel with the occupation forces' announcement this evening of a curfew in the town of Qabatiya south of Jenin.
According to the statement, Zamir was accompanied during his field tour to assess the situation in the areas of Tammun and Tubas by the commander of the Central Command, Avi Blot, the commander of the West Bank Division, Kobe Heller, the commander of the border police in the West Bank, Niso Guetta, and other officers.
The statement added that "after that, the Chief of Staff was presented with the initial investigation of the special 'Yamam' unit operation to arrest wanted individuals, during which gunfire occurred resulting in the death of two militants," referring to the field execution carried out by the occupation forces from zero distance against Palestinians after they surrendered in Jenin.
Zamir said, according to the statement, "The Central Command has been leading a strong and offensive campaign against terrorism in Judea and Samaria (the biblical term for the occupied West Bank) and the Jordan Valley for the past two years."
He continued, "We launched the 'Five Stones' operation in northern Samaria following attempts to establish an armed organization in the area, and spotted a number of wanted individuals who fled there."
He added, "We are continuously working to thwart terrorism and its infrastructures; we will enhance protection and security for the settlements in Judea and Samaria. We will not allow the threat of terrorism to grow and will work to preemptively thwart it through proactive offensive activity."
Regarding the occupation's self-investigation into the documented field execution, Zamir added that "this concerns events that require deep examination," noting that instructions were issued by him "to complete the operational investigation immediately after the investigation conducted by the investigative unit with police officers (Mahash) concludes."
The ongoing Israeli aggression has been escalating continuously for days on the Tubas governorate in northern West Bank. Local sources confirmed the continued incursions of the occupation forces into Qabatiya, pointing to the outbreak of clashes, house raids, and converting a number of them into military barracks.
Since dawn Monday, occupation forces have been blocking the entrances to the city of Tubas with earth mounds and raiding citizens' homes, converting some homes into military barracks, while similar incursions and conversion of homes into military points are occurring in the town of Aqaba, north of Tubas.
In another development in southern West Bank, groups of settlers from the "Susya" settlement started to raze large areas of agricultural land in the Khalat al-Hummus area southeast of Yatta in Hebron, which led to the destruction of about 500 grape trees and 350 olive trees, in addition to damaging agricultural rooms and cutting fences surrounding more than ten dunams.
