Jordan: Foiling an Attempt to Smuggle One Million Two Hundred Thousand Drug Pills to a Neighboring Country

SadaNews - The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate stated that personnel in the Drug Enforcement Administration managed, after two months of surveillance, investigation, and information gathering, to thwart an attempt to smuggle one million two hundred thousand narcotic pills to a neighboring country after hiding them in a secret compartment created within a heavy vehicle in preparation for shipping it along with its narcotic contents to the neighboring state.

In detail: The spokesperson confirmed that nearly two months ago, the Drug Enforcement Administration received information about a group of individuals agreeing to carry out a large drug trafficking operation.

He added that since then, several teams were formed to follow up on this information and verify it, as these teams worked on monitoring and gathering information about the suspects and those who had been reported against.

He continued that through investigations and surveillance operations, it became evident that the suspects had purchased a heavy vehicle (roller) and transported it to a warehouse in the Ras al-Ayn district, where they began to gradually transfer quantities of narcotic substances into the warehouse.

The spokesperson emphasized that yesterday, after concluding all investigations and verifying all information, and after transferring all narcotic materials to the warehouse, five teams raided the warehouse location and several other locations where those involved in the case were present at the same time.

He indicated that inside the warehouse, the heavy vehicle and several individuals involved in the case were seized, while other teams arrested the remaining suspects at their locations, with a total of ten individuals involved in the case being arrested during all raids.

The vehicle was transported to the Drug Enforcement Administration, and upon searching it there, they found one million two hundred thousand narcotic pills hidden inside a secret compartment created within it, with investigations still ongoing in preparation for referring the case to the Attorney General for the State Security Court.
