Ben Gvir Promotes Commander of the Undercover Unit in the West Bank After the Execution of Two Young Men in Jenin
SadaNews - The Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, visited the base of the Border Police's undercover unit in the West Bank, where he personally informed the unit's commander of his promotion decision.
According to multiple sources, this promotion came two days after the unit's personnel executed two Palestinian young men in the city of Jenin, an act that sparked widespread criticism and was seen as a direct message of support from the minister to the unit and its members.
The decision, which was approved by the police leadership and the commissioner general, reflects Ben Gvir's orientation toward strengthening the status of special units, despite the accompanying accusations of serious violations of Palestinian rights.
A video released on Thursday showed the execution of two Palestinian young men by Israeli special forces following the besiegement of homes in the Abu Zahir mountain area surrounding the Jenin camp in northern the West Bank.
The general authority for civil affairs informed the Ministry of Health about the martyrdom of the young man, Al-Muntasir Billah Mahmoud Qassem Abdullah (26 years old), and the young man Yusuf Ali Yusuf Assa'sa (37 years old), in that area and the detention of their bodies.
The footage shows a military bulldozer of the occupation army demolishing the entrance of a storage room within one of the besieged houses, before two Palestinian young men emerged with their hands raised in surrender. After they were fully subdued, they were asked to return inside the house, where the two young men were executed on the spot in a direct manner.
