Jerusalem Post: New Ireland President a Hamas Ally and a Threat to Israel
SadaNews - The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post published an article by Asher Maoz - the founding dean of the law school at the "Peres Academic Center" in Israel and the vice president of the International Association for the Defense of Religious Freedom - warning about the danger posed by the newly elected President of Ireland, Catherine Connelly, to Israel.
He stated that Israel is genuinely expecting tough days under President Connelly's administration.
Maoz explained that Connelly told the BBC during her election campaign that the Palestinian resistance movement (Hamas) is part of the fabric of the Palestinian people and was legitimately elected to lead Gaza.
The Most Anti-Israel
Maoz added that the election of Catherine Connelly as President of Ireland is not good news for Israel, as she is the most prominent among those opposing Israel even among Irish politicians who are against Tel Aviv.
He noted that Connelly, a veteran left-wing deputy in the Irish political spectrum, often speaks about "genocide" in Gaza and criticizes the atrocities committed by Israel.
Moreover, according to the writer, Connelly told the Irish House of Representatives (Dáil), "If we in this Dáil are unable to recognize that Israel is a terrorist state, we are in real trouble," and she also criticized Israel's strikes against Iran's nuclear program.
Maoz concluded his article by emphasizing that Israel is now facing a president who is considered an outspoken supporter of Hamas, as she visited Syria during the bloody civil war and called for the "liberation of Palestine."
