6 Officers and Soldiers Injured.. Martyrs, Injuries, and Several Arrests During an Israeli Incursion in Syria

Translation and follow-up by SadaNews - Many Syrians were martyred early Friday following an Israeli force incursion into the town of Beit Jinn in the western countryside of Damascus.

The Syrian television reported that at least 9 people were martyred as a result of the Israeli shelling of the town.

The town is located about 11 kilometers from the Israeli border and approximately 40 kilometers from the capital, Damascus.

An Israeli force infiltrated and besieged a house located near the buffer zone controlled by Israel before arresting two brothers inside the house.

During the incursion, the forces came under gunfire from Syrian militants, resulting in the death of two of them and injuries to several others, as mentioned by the Israeli army in its narrative, translated by SadaNews.

The Israeli artillery shelled the area while various aircraft flew over the region. After about two hours of the operation that began at 3 AM, the Israeli force withdrew.

The Israeli army acknowledged that 6 soldiers and officers were injured during the operation, including 3 with serious injuries, who were transported to Rambam Hospital in Haifa for treatment.

The Israeli army claimed that the operation targeted elements belonging to the "Islamic group" who were active in the village of Beit Jinn and were planning attacks.

According to an Israeli military spokesperson, the operation targeted two brothers from the "Islamic group" who were behind previous incidents of planting explosive devices and launching missiles at Mount Sheikh. They were arrested while asleep without any resistance.

He noted that when his forces were leaving the house, they came under fire from a distance of 200 meters, which led to the injury of soldiers and officers. They responded to the source of the fire, killing some and arresting several other militants.

He pointed out that a military vehicle of the "Hummer" type became stuck at the location and was later attacked from the air.
