Pakistan: "Suicide Attack" Targets Border Police Headquarters, Claims Lives of 3 Personnel
SadaNews - Three personnel of the Pakistani security forces were killed on Monday morning in a suicide attack that targeted the Border Police headquarters in Peshawar city, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near the border with Afghanistan, according to police reports to AFP.
Peshawar Police Chief, Mian Saeed, stated that three attackers carried out the assault at 8:10 AM local time, detonating themselves at the entrance of the headquarters, resulting in the deaths of three security personnel and injuring four others.
Reuters reported from security sources that the headquarters, part of the paramilitary Border Police, was subjected to two consecutive suicide attacks, confirming the three fatalities.
A senior security official, who requested anonymity, clarified that the first suicide bomber targeted the main entrance, while the second managed to enter the compound before detonating himself.
He noted that military and police forces cordoned off the area and are cautiously dealing with the situation amid fears of other attackers inside the headquarters.
