UN Security Council Adopts US Draft Resolution on Gaza
SadaNews: The United Nations Security Council approved tonight the draft resolution presented by the United States regarding the Gaza Strip. The draft resolution was supported by 13 members, while Russia and China abstained from voting.
The resolution welcomes President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza issued on September 29, which includes establishing a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid, and the reconstruction of the area.
It also points to "establishing a reliable path that allows the Palestinian people to exercise self-determination and establish a Palestinian state."
The resolution emphasizes that the situation in the Gaza Strip threatens regional peace and the security of neighboring countries, referring to previous relevant Security Council resolutions regarding the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.
It stresses the importance of resuming the full delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, in accordance with relevant principles of international law and through cooperating organizations, including the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent.
The World Bank and other financial institutions are called upon to facilitate and provide financial resources to support the reconstruction and development of Gaza, including creating a trust fund for this purpose managed by donor entities.

For its part, the State of Palestine welcomed the adoption of the US draft resolution on Gaza by the UN Security Council, which affirms the establishment of a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian assistance, and affirming the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to establish their independent Palestinian state.
The State of Palestine emphasized the urgent need to implement this resolution on the ground to ensure the return to normal life, protect our people in the Gaza Strip, prevent displacement, ensure the complete withdrawal of occupying forces, promote reconstruction, halt the undermining of the two-state solution, and prevent annexation.
The State of Palestine expressed its full readiness to cooperate with the US administration, members of the Security Council, Arab and Islamic countries, the European Union and its member states, the United Nations, and all parties to the international coalition and partners in the New York Declaration, to implement this resolution in a manner that ends the suffering of our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, and to move towards a political path that leads to achieving peace, security, and stability between Palestinians and Israelis, based on the two-state solution in accordance with international law and international legitimacy.
The State of Palestine reiterated its readiness to assume full responsibility in the Gaza Strip, within the framework of the unity of land, people, and institutions, considering the Strip an integral part of the State of Palestine.
