What Do We Know About Muhammad Al-Ahmad and Stepan Salama, Appointed to the Ministries of Finance and Transport?

Follow SadaNews - The government announced a cabinet reshuffle that includes the appointment of Stepan Salama as Minister of Finance and Dr. Muhammad Al-Ahmad as Minister of Transport.

Who is Stepan Salama?

Salama holds a PhD in Planning and Public Policy from the University of Illinois in Chicago and has worked for 17 years in the Palestinian public sector. He has served as an advisor to several Palestinian ministers and prime ministers. He led efforts in strategic planning and international cooperation, overseeing the management of relations with international donors, engaging with over 50 countries and international organizations.

During his tenure at the Ministry of Planning and the Prime Minister's Office, Dr. Salama led the national team responsible for preparing many national plans and sectoral strategies, in addition to recovery and reconstruction plans for the Gaza Strip. He has also worked for over ten years as a lecturer at Birzeit University and currently holds membership on the board of trustees of several academic institutions and charitable associations, including Bethlehem University, Al-Rawda College, and the Friends School.

Who is Muhammad Al-Ahmad?

He is a professor of private law at Birzeit University, Faculty of Law and Public Administration. Al-Ahmad served as the Dean of Student Affairs at Birzeit University from 2008 to 2021 and worked as an advisor to the university president for communications in 2016.

Dr. Muhammad currently holds the position of Director of the Master's programs in Law, Law and Economics, and Private Law, and is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Sports Arbitration Authority. He is an accredited arbitrator registered with the Palestinian Ministry of Justice, a practicing lawyer registered with the Palestinian list of licensed lawyers, and has research interests in legal and public affairs. He is a member of the boards of several governmental and civil institutions, and he holds a PhD in Private Law.

Meanwhile, Al-Ahmad manages the Executive Office for Institutional Reform in the Prime Minister's Office.
