World Health Organization and United Nations: Catastrophic Humanitarian and Health Conditions in Gaza
SadaNews - The World Health Organization and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warned of the deterioration of health and living conditions in the Gaza Strip, as the blockade and border closures continue, with the winter season approaching.
The World Health Organization stated that around 16,500 patients in the Gaza Strip are still awaiting evacuation for treatment abroad, confirming that its medical supplies are ready at the border, but are still unable to enter due to the closure of the crossings.
The organization called for the urgent reopening of the Rafah crossing and all crossings, emphasizing that the Rafah crossing represents a vital outlet for medical evacuations and is a key entry point for health supplies to Gaza, and demanded that aid flow without obstacles and that more countries receive patients for treatment.
For its part, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs confirmed that hundreds of thousands of families in the Gaza Strip are facing the onset of winter without means of protection or safe shelter, noting that only 4% of the agricultural land in the area remains arable and accessible, amid the widespread destruction caused by the ongoing Israeli aggression.
