Yedioth Ahronoth Reveals Details of the Cabinet Session on Gaza

SadaNews Translation - The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed on Friday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the members of the "Cabinet" during a session last night that a "model city" will be established in the areas controlled by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

According to the newspaper, as translated by SadaNews, Netanyahu stated that this city would be demilitarized and rehabilitated, and that the residents of the Gaza Strip would be able to enter it under new supervision, aiming to separate Hamas from the population.

According to the newspaper, several Cabinet ministers opposed the proposal, including Gila Gamliel, Orit Strook, Zeev Elkin, and Miri Regev, noting that Gamliel interrupted Netanyahu several times, asserting that this idea was dangerous.

Some ministers called for not establishing the city in the area under Israeli control.

Netanyahu also stated that the international stability force being prepared would first enter the non-Israeli-controlled area of the Mawasi.

During the session, there was a discussion about Hamas elements present in the Rafah tunnels, estimated to number around 200.

According to the newspaper, as translated by SadaNews, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, opposed any deal to extract them, emphasizing their eradication or arrest and transfer for investigation in Sde Teiman.

Zamir also recommended during the discussion not to proceed to the next phase of the agreement with Hamas before recovering all the bodies of the prisoners, saying: "I also recommend not allowing rehabilitation before heavy weapon disarmament."

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz suggested working on expelling and deporting the militants after they exit the tunnel, which was opposed by Zamir and several ministers.
