Egyptian artist Hamdi El-Wazir hospitalized
SadaNews - Egyptian artist Hamdi El-Wazir faced a health emergency that required his transfer to the hospital, where he is currently receiving intensive medical care in a private hospital in Cairo.
A close source revealed that the veteran actor experienced heart issues in the past few hours which necessitated his hospitalization. He underwent several medical tests and analyses, confirming the need for him to remain in the hospital under close observation, without needing to be moved to the intensive care unit.
Aortic Aneurysm
The source also informed Al-Arabiya.net that the renowned artist has been suffering from heart problems for several years, having even undergone heart surgery in 2022 due to an aortic aneurysm. Since then, he has been visiting the hospital for regular check-ups to monitor his health condition, yet he faced an emergency crisis a few hours ago.
On her part, Mai, the actor's daughter, stated that her father's health condition has stabilized somewhat after being admitted to the hospital, and he is expected to leave within a few days as his condition improves. She added to Al-Arabiya.net that the treating physician requested some new medical tests to ensure the stability of his blood pressure and other vital functions.
However, she confirmed that her father is fully conscious and that his condition is not serious.
His Artistic Career
It is worth mentioning that Hamdi El-Wazir is a famous Egyptian artist born in Port Said in 1955, making him 70 years old. He comes from a family of artists who have produced several actors and directors.
He obtained a Bachelor's degree in engineering from Qena University and began his artistic career in the late 1970s. His cinematic beginnings were notably strong, participating in a role in the film "Alexandria Why" with director Youssef Chahine in 1979.
He also took part in several notable works such as the films "Bus Driver" and "The Decider" during the 1980s, as well as the third season of the series "Raafat Al-Haggan" in 1992, where he played the role of young intelligence officer Adel, who assists Raafat Al-Haggan in his tasks for the first time.
He also worked as a director for the plays "War of Al-Basus" and "Rituals of Signals and Transformations," and among his television works are the series "Al-Baqar Mandi," "The Auction," and "Egyptian Papers."
