From the Heart of Challenges.. Palestine Launches “edupro,” the First AI Educational Platform with a Local Model
SadaNews - In a historic step reflecting the will to innovate in the face of the toughest circumstances, the "edupro" platform was launched, the first Palestinian and Middle Eastern educational platform that relies entirely on a local AI model, as part of the events of the tenth National Forum "Innovation from the Homeland to the World."
This pioneering platform, developed by the aba agency, is an initiative by the company's co-founder, Samer Al-Betawi, along with its board of directors and a team of Palestinian programmers and technicians. It provides a comprehensive technological solution that serves the educational system amid the significant challenges facing the education sector in Palestine, especially with the ongoing war, destruction, economic hardships, and difficulties in accessing schools.
A Platform Ready to Serve Six Beneficiaries
Samer Al-Betawi provided a detailed explanation of the platform, assuring that it is fully ready to serve six main beneficiaries within a complete digital educational system. He clarified that the platform is designed to meet the needs of each category with specialized tools and permissions.
Students from the fourth grade to high school receive a comprehensive interactive learning experience that includes all school subjects, along with an intelligent virtual teacher capable of solving complex mathematical and physical equations and answering their immediate inquiries, in addition to intelligent assessment exams that automatically generate new questions each time, with immediate performance evaluations.
As for the parents, they can continuously monitor their child's performance and evaluation, and communicate with the AI for in-depth analyses regarding the student's behavior and the challenges they face, along with practical recommendations to solve educational and behavioral issues. Meanwhile, teachers receive advanced tools to prepare and organize their lessons and communicate virtually with their students, benefiting from intelligent analyses to improve their teaching performance.
At the administrative level, the platform offers specialized dashboards for schools, directorates, and ministries, allowing each entity to monitor educational performance within its geographical and administrative scope, and receive comprehensive analyses provided by AI regarding problems, challenges, and opportunities, enabling decision-makers to make strategic decisions based on accurate and timely data.
Al-Betawi pointed out that the platform also features an innovative property called "the community," which allows students from the same class, regardless of their geographical locations, to communicate and exchange knowledge and experiences, while AI analyzes their interactions and the content shared among them, generating intelligent educational recommendations that enhance collaborative and active learning.
National Adoption and Vision for the Future
The launch event witnessed a pivotal moment with the announcement by the Higher Council for Creativity and Excellence, the organizing body of the forum, regarding its readiness to adopt the platform and idea locally and internationally, similar to other pioneering projects it supports.
The platform was launched in the presence of a select group of decision-makers in the fields of innovation and education, with the participation of His Excellency Engineer Adnan Samara, the chairman of the Higher Council for Creativity and Excellence and advisor to the President on innovation affairs, who emphasized the strategic value of the project, saying:
"Amid the obstacles faced by our community, Palestinian minds once again prove their ability to produce, innovate, and create."
Engineer Samara added that the platform is now active and ready to serve students, which represents a testimony to resilience and the ability to keep pace with global development despite everything. The platform received great respect and appreciation from the elite present in the fields of education and artificial intelligence, who praised the depth of the idea and the quality of execution.
The Platform in Actual Service
Unlike many emerging projects, “edupro” was launched fully functional and ready for immediate use. Students from the fourth grade to high school (Tawjihi) can register directly and begin to benefit from its integrated services, which include:
• A multidisciplinary virtual teacher: capable of solving complex problems and answering students' inquiries.
• Intelligent assessment exams: generating new questions and providing immediate performance evaluation.
• Specialized dashboards: for students, parents, teachers, schools, directorates, and the ministry, creating an interconnected and transparent educational system.
The platform is also ready for immediate application at the school and directorate levels, especially with the upcoming examination period, to provide genuine and tangible support for the educational process.
Towards Continuous Development and Strategic Partnerships
The ambitions of those behind the platform do not stop here. In the coming days, the platform will be presented to various educational institutions in partnership with the Council for Creativity with the aim of opening the door for discussion, studying ways to develop it, and enhancing its role in updating education to keep pace with the global AI revolution.
This step aims to build partnerships that ensure the growth of the platform and its integration with the official educational system.
Technical Independence and Data Sovereignty
The strength of "edupro" lies in its reliance on a local AI model and dedicated servers, ensuring full sovereignty over student data and freeing it from reliance on ready-made global models. This technical independence, born out of necessity in Palestine, grants the platform flexibility and applicability in any educational system worldwide.
Al-Betawi emphasized that the primary aim of the platform goes beyond the technical aspect; it seeks to preserve the most important capital of the Palestinian people, which is the individual, by enabling students to receive quality education, analyzing their academic and educational behavior, and preserving educational and cultural heritage through full control over the content and information that the model analyzes and retains locally.
He confirmed that data protection and information security are fundamental pillars in the design of the platform, making it not just an educational tool, but a strategic national project that protects Palestinian identity and preserves digital sovereignty for future generations.
A Message of Hope and Resilience
The launch of "edupro" represents more than just a technical event; it is a powerful message that the Palestinian mind is capable of turning hardship into opportunity, providing innovative solutions that serve humanity, and confirming that creativity cannot be limited by harsh circumstances.
It is worth noting that the founder of the platform, Samer Al-Betawi, announced that the platform will be free for students and teachers during the current period, and it will extend for an additional academic year for the sector of Gaza this year.
