Israeli Army: We Eliminated the Commander of the Basij Forces in Tehran
SadaNews - The Israeli army announced on Tuesday the elimination of the commander of the Basij forces in Iran, while Israeli media reported that the army also targeted Iranian National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani, adding that it was not immediately clear whether he had been killed or injured.
Israeli army spokesperson Avichai Adraee stated in a message on X: "The air force carried out an operation guided by accurate intelligence from the Military Intelligence Directorate yesterday, specifically targeting the heart of Tehran and eliminated the individual known as Gholam Reza Soleimani, commander of the Basij organization for the past six years."
Adraee earlier noted that "dozens of warplanes conducted extensive raids targeting Iranian infrastructure in Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz, as powerful explosions shook the Iranian capital today, according to a reporter from the 'Agence France-Presse'."
Adraee explained in a post on "X" that the strikes in Tehran targeted security headquarters, including the Ministry of Intelligence and the Basij forces, in addition to sites for storing and launching drones, ballistic missiles, and air defense systems.
