The Fatwa Council Calls for Support for Olive Farmers
SadaNews - The Supreme Fatwa Council called for supporting the farmers who cling to their blessed land and nurture the olive tree, which is a symbol of our existence and connection, and who are subjected, along with it, to the assaults of the occupation authorities and the gangs of settlers, who are firing live ammunition at olive pickers and their supporters, forcing them to vacate their lands by the use of force, and stealing their harvest.
The council clarified that these heinous assaults occurred in various areas of the West Bank, which has increased the suffering of the Palestinian farmer, who is already facing hardships due to the poor olive season this year. These assaults are part of the occupiers' schemes to annex and Judaize Palestinian lands, and they are exploiting ways to seize land for the benefit of Israeli settlements, as part of a systematic policy to displace landowners and control their lands, imposing a new reality in areas close to the settlements, amidst a series of daily attacks.
The council condemned the ongoing incursions by hundreds of extremist settlers, protected by the occupation army and police, into the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, under flimsy pretexts, which constitutes a blatant provocation to the feelings of Muslims and a challenge to the steadfast Palestinian people who defend the blessed mosque and the holy city. These assaults violate the right to freedom of worship that the heavenly laws have called for, and which international laws and norms guarantee yet are not respected. These incursions carry dangerous implications and fall within the plan to impose Israeli sovereignty over the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque amid Arab and global silence.
The council also called for unity and reconciliation among the Palestinian people and all its factions, as this is the most effective way to confront the aggression, especially in these difficult circumstances facing Palestine, where the Israeli occupation and its collaborators seek to displace its residents and empty it for the benefit of extremist settlers. The greatest loser from the division is our people and our cause, and the one who benefits from our conflict and our preoccupation with internal strife is the occupation that is present on our land and in our hearts, regardless of the names of the parties to the conflict and the time and place of it.
This came during the council's (231) session, chaired by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, with discussions on the legal issues listed on their agenda, attended by the honorable members of the council from various governorates of the homeland.
