Israeli Poll: Netanyahu's Coalition Declines Against Opposition in Case of Early Elections
SadaNews - A recent opinion poll in Israel has shown a decline in the number of seats for the government coalition led by Benjamin Netanyahu in favor of the opposition in the event of early general elections.
According to the poll results published by the Hebrew newspaper "Maariv" on Friday, Netanyahu's camp would secure 52 seats in the Knesset (parliament), compared to 58 for the opposing camp, and 10 seats for the Arab parties, if the elections were held today.
Under Israeli law, forming a government requires the support of at least 61 members from the Knesset's 120 members.
Israeli opposition parties confirm their refusal to enter into any coalition with Arab parties to form a government.
No early elections are on the horizon due to Netanyahu's rejection of growing calls for them, while his current government term ends at the end of next year, 2026.
The poll was conducted by the private "Lazar" Institute, without "Maariv" providing details about the sample size or margin of error.
This comes after the ceasefire in Gaza took effect on October 10, following two years of devastation carried out by Israel with U.S. support.
The Israeli devastation has resulted in the deaths of 67,967 Palestinians and injuries to 170,179 others, most of whom are children and women, alongside starvation that claimed the lives of 463 Palestinians, including 157 children.
