Iran Comments on Trump's Call for Dialogue and Washington's Behavior
SadaNews - The Iranian Foreign Ministry criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's call for dialogue on Tuesday, accusing Washington of adopting a "hostile and criminal behavior" after Trump stated before the Knesset that his country is ready to strike a deal with Tehran.
In June, the United States joined Israel in striking Iranian nuclear facilities after five rounds of indirect nuclear talks with Tehran faltered over issues like nuclear enrichment.
Western countries accuse Iran of seeking to possess nuclear weapons, which Tehran denies, asserting that its nuclear program is intended solely for civilian purposes.
On Monday, the U.S. president confirmed in a speech before the Knesset that he desires a peace agreement with Tehran after the United States joined Israel in launching strikes on nuclear sites in Iran earlier this year.
Trump stated, "It would be great to reach a peace agreement" with Iran, adding, "Wouldn't that please you? Wouldn’t that be nice? I think they want it too."
He continued, "We are ready when you are ready" to reach an agreement.
He explained, "If Iran had nuclear weapons, Arab countries would not feel comfortable with the agreement we have now."
