Trump Threatens Russia with Sending Tomahawk Missiles to Ukraine
SadaNews - US President Donald Trump stated that he might warn his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, that Ukraine could obtain Tomahawk missiles if Moscow does not end the war on Ukraine.
When asked aboard the presidential plane heading to Israel and Egypt late Sunday night whether he would raise this issue with Putin personally, he said, "I might talk to him. Maybe I’ll say: Look, if a settlement is not reached in this war, I will send them Tomahawk missiles."
Trump added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested Tomahawk missiles when they discussed new arms supplies to Kyiv during a phone call on Saturday.
Trump questioned, while speaking to reporters on the plane, "Do they want Tomahawk missiles to be launched at them? I don’t think so."
Earlier, President Zelensky had asked the United States to sell these missiles to European countries that would send them to Ukraine.
However, the US president had previously rejected Ukraine's requests to use long-range missiles, but he has repeatedly expressed his disappointment at President Putin’s refusal to reach a peace agreement, threatening to impose significant sanctions on Moscow.
The range of Tomahawk missiles reaches 2,500 kilometers and would be a powerful asset in Ukraine’s arsenal as it faces a barrage of Russian missile and drone attacks.
