18 Missing After Explosion at Munitions Factory in Tennessee, USA
SadaNews - Officials have revealed that 18 people are missing, and there may be fatalities after an explosion occurred at a military munitions factory in Tennessee, according to Reuters.
The explosion, which took place at "Acurit Energetic Systems" about 100 kilometers west of Nashville, resulted in some fatalities; however, officials have not yet determined the number of dead.
Chris Davis, the Humphreys County Sheriff, stated during a press conference that the incident was "one of the most devastating situations I have experienced in my professional life," adding that it will take time to determine the cause.
Davis said, "There will not be a brief explanation for that," noting that investigators from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on the scene.
When asked to describe the building where the explosion occurred, Davis said, "There is nothing for me to describe... the building has been leveled to the ground."
Aerial footage from a CNN broadcast showed a building that has become a mere memory. In a nearby parking garage, debris and ash were scattered among a few parked cars.
Davis initially stated that 19 people were missing, but later, WSMV reported, citing officials, that one person who was thought to be among the missing was found safe at home.
