Palestine Chairs Meetings of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Communication and Information Technology
Sada News - Today, Tuesday, Huda Al-Wahidi, Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, opened the meetings of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Communication and Information Technology in Tunisia, representing the State of Palestine as the current president of the organization, in the presence of representatives from Arab countries, and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Rami Al-Qaddoumi.
Al-Wahidi, in her opening speech, noted that the opening of the Executive Council's work for the Arab Organization for Communication and Information Technologies for the year 2026, the 26th session, comes under the umbrella of joint Arab cooperation and aims to shape a digital future worthy of our Arab nation.
She stated, "The convening of this council at this critical stage carries deep implications; it reflects a collective desire to unify efforts and reaffirms that technology and innovation are not luxuries but existential necessities to ensure sustainable development, enhance digital sovereignty, and protect the interests of our peoples in a rapidly transforming world."
Al-Wahidi indicated that the State of Palestine, along with our Arab brothers, believes that technology is an empowering tool for humanity, and not merely infrastructure or technical tools; it is a means to preserve identity, enhance culture, and open new horizons for youth and women to be at the forefront of shaping the future.
She added, "From this perspective, we look forward through this council to develop common practical policies that enhance Arab digital integration, launch initiatives in the fields of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, governmental digital transformation, and support youth innovation and entrepreneurship, linking it to national and regional platforms and enhancing Arab-African and international partnerships, solidifying our region's position in the global knowledge-based economy."
She also addressed Arab-African cooperation, which constitutes a highly significant strategic dimension, saying, "We are united by history, geography, and shared interests. This cooperation is an opportunity to exchange experiences and develop cross-border digital projects, opening new horizons for economic and social integration, granting our region greater weight on the international stage."
Al-Wahidi emphasized that despite the challenges, the State of Palestine continues to play a pioneering role in the field of digital transformation through national initiatives like the Government Innovation Lab, as well as through active participation in regional and international platforms. Our experience proves that the will can transform challenges into opportunities, and that investing in people is the best way to build the future.
She concluded by stating that our organization will remain a beacon of cooperation and Arab integration in the field of communication and information technology, and that we will continue to work together, with determination and faith, for a prosperous and secure digital future for our Arab nation.
